About the US Army Jeep car
The US left behind thousands of Jeeps when their troops pulled out in 1973, and although no one could use them until petrol became freely available in the late Eighties, the canny Vietnamese stored them away, and they are now worth up to £15,000 each. And since the route we were following was the Ho Chi Minh Trail, it seemed appropriate to call at the museum celebrating the route that kept the North Vietnamese Army supplied for almost a decade.
Itinerary for a Jeep excursion in the Hoi An countryside
Our classic army jeeps, complete with driver and tour guide, will be waiting for you in the lobby of your hotel at 8:00 a.m or 8:30 a.m. for your Hoi An Jeep Tour through countryside villages. After a few minutes, we will leave the hectic city and enter the quiet countryside of Hoi An, complete with rice fields, water buffalos, fish farms, water coconut forests, and so on.
We will visit local households with artisan works such as weaving bed mats from river reeds, rice crackers, wooden boat manufacturing, basket boat making, and so on because this Hoi An jeep adventure is a cultural tour in outskirt of Hoi An town such as Cam Kim village, Duy Vinh village…. We always encourage you to join a family member in their everyday activities to learn more about the local culture.
Our Hoi An Jeeps will take you into the countryside of Hoi An, where you can view the scenery and the beauty of the farming fields. Our driver and tour guide will make many stops for you to take fantastic photos, mingle with friendly people, and participate in some fun activities.
On our Hoi An rural Jeep tour, we will stop at a local coffee roastery to sample the best Vietnamese coffee and learn more about the real culture of Hoi An. Our Hoi An Jeeps will pull over in the middle of the Cua Dai bridge so you can take in the panoramic views of the Thu Bon River, villages, and the ancient town of Hoi An.
After that, we’ll head to Cam Thanh fishing town to have a Hoi An Basket boat trip and try crab fishing with the locals. You will learn how to row the basket boat and capture crabs and fish with very simple instruments.
We’ll get to Tra Que Vegetable community by following the zigzag country roads. We’ll encounter a local farmer and his water buffalo along the route. You will get the opportunity to speak with him, and if you choose, we can ride on the back of his water buffalo.
Walking through the Tra Que herb village to appreciate the daily farming activities, you can join them in some daily activity, smell their fantastic herbs, and photograph some of them.
